We are diverse. I want to exclude the entire human population EXCEPT the Christian world. We are SO diverse. Can it actually be that there are so many variations of scripture interpretation, and yet the argument is, "We are all correct… just a different interpretation"?
"My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand" John 10:27-28.
Jesus says of Himself in John 10:11, "I am the good shepherd". He gives His Life for the sheep. And in doing so, becomes "the door" by which, "if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture" John 10:9. This is the Shepherd that must die for His sheep. This is He, of whom David speaks… the man agonizing in Psalm 22.
THE SABBATH WAS CREATED FOR MAN
"Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made" Gen 2:1-3.
From the beginning, God has established seven days. He began His work on the "first" day, and ended it on the "seventh" day. Notice here… God Blessed and Sanctified the seventh day. Why? Because He had "rested" in it. Because there was no more work. God had finished the work… ALL His work!
I have seen many posts which assert that God HAS to do whatever "YOU" ask of Him. Let me assert... God does not have to do anything. Oh He is true to His Word alright. But one must read the rest of His Word. There are major requirements from us before God starts "lavishing" upon us.
I will never be the one who quotes John 15:7-8 to you… "If ye abide in Me, and My Words abide in you, ye shall ASK WHAT YE WILL, and IT SHALL BE DONE UNTO YOU. Herein is My Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be My disciples"… and tells you, "See, you can ask for whatever you want and God must give it to you". I will be the one who says…"IF you abide in Him, and IF His Words abide in you"... you will bear much fruit.
Because IF you do ABIDE in Him and His Words in you, you will not be asking for lottery winnings, or a bigger/better stock portfolio, or even healing… you will instead find yourself asking, with sincere passion, that God's Will be accomplished in your life and in the world. And then, He will perfect His purpose in you. Because, you see... we are not more important than He. It is important to understand the perspective here.
What does abide mean? To "abide in Christ" means to "follow His example of a life obedient to the Word of God".
"To abide in Christ is, on the one hand, to have no known sin unjudged and unconfessed, no interest into which He is not brought, no life which He cannot share. On the other hand, the abiding one takes all burdens to Him, and draws all wisdom, life and strength from Him. It is not unceasing consciousness of these things and of Him… but that nothing is allowed in the life which separates from Him." ~ Scofield
It means to live as Jesus lived.
Peace, Grace and Love,
"When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things" 1 Cor. 13:11.
The enemy would keep us as a child… suckling on milk… immature in knowledge. I have seen a couple of posts and references to… "Let Them Go" by T.D. Jakes, a person whose life-style, perspective and example I strongly disagree with. Perhaps I'll do a "Who Is This Spiritual Leader" on him. Perhaps you should?
Perhaps we should consider the other side of that coin. What if "they" are not leaving? What if "you" are not coming along with them?
"In childhood the mind, pleased with every trifle and void of care, vacantly pursues its little pleasures, and, blessed with ignorance of the ills and disappointments of life, looks forward with sanguine hopes to fairy scenes of happiness; while the bright and tearless eye, resting on the outside of things, sees a paradise in every lawn and grove. A recollection of these childish delights is often cherished with rapture in future years, while the man, forgetful of the frettings and whining of childhood, indulgently inquires, Why were the former days better than these? But he does not ask wisely concerning this. A virtuous manhood is much more to be desired than the state of children. It is capable of far nobler pursuits, of knowledge, enjoyment, and action more congenial with the ends of our being." ~Edward D. Griffin
Peace, Grace and Love...
We are "writers" (obviously). This is what "we" consider ourselves… one of the "descriptors" we use to define (defend?) or explain ourselves. We are in graduated categories of "excellence". Moreover, we are the Lord's people. Until we realize that, we are at the mercy of the world! And by "we"… I mean the Lord's people, not necessarily the "reader".
"Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling" Phil. 2:12.
This verse, and the term, "work out your own salvation" …have been referenced and quoted more than a few times on this blogsite. I admit to having referenced it more than two times myself as has our dear brother the baptistdeacon, with good reason. This is another of Paul's "abound more and more" exhortation, in this case to the Philippians. It was written while he was a prisoner of Nero in Rome. And he makes it clear in that verse that he is and will be absent from them… he will not be around anymore. He expects to die soon.
Father, You are Sovereign God of all that was, is, and shall be. Your domain is all of Creation, that You wrought by Your Lively Word, on Earth and in Heaven. We thank You for our blessings in it. We thank You for Your Providence in our lives. We thank You that You called us out of this world and into Your Holy family, made possible by the awesome work of Your Christ, Jesus, Whose Holy Sacrifice redeemed all of Creation. Whose perfect, sinless sacrifice atoned for our sins, reconciling once and for all, we who were Your enemies but now are sons and daughters of the Everlasting God, the Lord, our Father. We desire Your Will in our lives.
We desire to know Your Will this election day. We know the candidates, we know the platforms, we know the rhetoric, we know the choices, and we know how our minds lean. But we desire to know Your Will in our hearts. We are not desirous of vain glory. Who we want elected is not an issue. How we "feel" led is not the motivation I want in choosing. We ask to know Your Will in this matter, not so we can "feel" good about our decision. We have no decision in the matter, except to decide to do Your Will.
Father, enlighten us Tuesday as we go to voting places across this country. We do not want to cast a vote against Your Will and purposes. Who ever wins Tuesday, we know it will be Your Will to accomplish Your purposes. If we are to be Your vessels, let us be vessels unto honor in service to the Lord. Let us bring about Your Will at the polls Tuesday that we may bring Glory to the Lord Jesus Christ, in Whose Blessed Name I pray, Amen.
